A lovely day for a drive.

Hello again and welcome to Inso's World.

This week has been one of a lot of diversions.

Monday, I popped up to Somerset, gave dad's flat a quick clean and then handed the keys back to the landlord. It was quite surreal, leaving the flat empty and for the last time... but it is a big tick for the 'jobs done' list. When I got home, I couldn't be bothered to cook so we went out for a burger and a couple of pints.

Tuesday was a flop day... followed by another Halloween party (and it was my friends birthday as well so it turned into a very good evening)... I hadn't planned on a second Halloween party and had cut my hair... so the Joker ended up like this:

Wednesday was a good day for popping to the beach with my two ladies.

Thursday I had a visit from my friend who is going to be renovating my bathroom and after we had a chat, we popped over to the plumbing store to order a bathroom suite and some fittings.

Friday saw the delivery of the bathroom stuff and after the delivery man had left, I decided to go over to a local bike shop to see what they had to play with... and I got to sit on a lovely motorcycle... which got my mind ticking over...

Saturday... me and my wife went back to the bike shop... and after my wife had had a sit on the pillion seat and looked at the display bike... I ordered one! Yep... I have ordered a new motorbike! It is a new 2018 model, Kawasaki Vulcan S, in black with an additional cafe racer style fly-screen. I find out on Tuesday, when it will arrive and be ready for collection. It is very similar to this one (but doesn't have the chrome spot-lights and has an additional fly-screen):

Now I need to get some new bike gear (for me and my wife) to go with it... although I won't be getting any for her just yet... I need to learn how to ride a 'feet-forward' motorbike first!

I am extremely excited about this purchase.

We topped that off with an evening of karaoke at my local pub.

Today we popped up to Somerset again; this time for something good. It was my Great-Nephew's Christening and it went very well. Not only did all the little ones behave very well in the church but we got to socialise with lots of family and friends as well... so it was a lovely way to spend the day.

As you can see... it's been a bit of a random week so I haven't really had a chance to do much hobby work. However, I did look into arranging my Squat army to fit in with WH40k 8th Edition and came up with this detachment list:

As you can see, there are some nasty yellow areas that need addressing but I have already been lucky enough to find a partially complete, 3rd platoon with commander and command squad (just the arms need finishing) so that was a bonus (I had completely forgotten about working on it and still can't recall doing it). I have also looked through the Squat component storage box and have bagged up the bits I need for the veteran squad, the heavy weapon squad and colonel Straken. The lower two detachments haven't been looked at yet.

As a result of the reorganisation, I needed to get some shotguns for the veterans and some heavy weapon tractors for the new platoon and heavy weapon squad so I went for THESE shotguns and THESE heavy weapon tractors (both from Anvil Industry). They should be arriving this week.

Apart from the weapons that I have ordered, I have everything else already... with the exception of the three Sentinels... but I can worry them at a later date.

Everything is going on! Hopefully, the positive streak will continue.

See you from the saddle!

Ive actually started on my own Squats as well and I think I'll run my Squats as Astrum Tempestus or Adeptus Mechanicus.
Of course I still have my older project laying around that might be used as Astra Militarum.

That's the beauty of a proxy army... you can tailor it to whatever list you feel best fits them. I reckon that the Mechanicus codex could be a fun list to use... especially with their strange weaponry.
